What forms of payment are accepted for renting a car?

We accept Credit and Debit Cards, Cash in local or USD currency and travelers cheque. For security reasons, we do not accept business or personal cheques from a foreign country. We apologize for any inconvenience.

What side of the road do you drive on in Antigua?

In Antigua and Barbuda we drive on the left hand side of the road as they do in England and most cars are right hand drive.

What do I need to rent a car?

In order to rent from Down West Car Rentals in Antigua & Barbuda- minimum driver age to should be 23 years of age, have a valid drivers license, customers must present a valid, unexpired government-issued drivers license from their country of citizenship which includes a photograph of the customer. Digital licenses are not accepted. The drivers license must be valid for the entire rental period. Be able to provide an acceptable form of payment.

Will Down West Car Rentals Pick me up?

Yes, our free pick-up service is available at all locations and during normal business hours. To schedule your pick up time or make additional arrangements, please call us at (268)-764-9344 directly.

Can I add an additional Driver to my rental Car?

Any additional driver (including a spouse or domestic partner) will be permitted to drive your rental car. Renters spouse or domestic partner who meet the same age and drivers license requirements of the renter are authorized drivers at no additional charge. Any additional authorized drivers must appear at time of rental and meet age and drivers license requirements.

When I will return the car?

You will return the car on the date indicated on the contract. You can also return it sooner on demand.

Are Pets Allowed?

Pets are allowed in rental vehicles. Customers need to keep pets crated and return their rental car in clean condition and free of pet hair to avoid cleaning or detailing fees. Service animals used by customers with disabilities are allowed in the vehicle without a carrier.

What should I do if I get in an accident in a rental car?

If you get into an auto accident in your rental car, the first thing you do is call the police and file a police report. You should then call the Down West Car Rental number at (268)-764-9344 and provide information on the accident. Our staff will walk you through the next steps.
